*Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate is an active stabilized derivative of Vitamin C. It is soluble in water and does not degrade in aqueous formulas and is effective at a neutral pH, plus it is stable in the presence of air exposure. It is a potent antioxidant that can improve the appearance of aging skin, an excellent non-irritating skin brightening agent for uneven skin tones, and improves the appearance of age spots. It is produced by direct phosphorylation of ascorbic acid sodium salt, where L-ascorbic acid is suspended in an oxygenated “non-hydroxylic” solvent together with sodium and then treated with a phosphorylating agent. It is easily bio-converted to Vitamin C by skin enzymes. We estimate that Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate has approximately 2.5 times the bioavailability of L-ascorbic acid to the skin. It stays in the skin for up to 72 hours and cannot be washed off once it soaks into the skin.

The in-vitro (made in the lab) test results show that Sokörpe's Radianskin™ can prevent melanin formation more effectively than other well-known skin-lightening agents, like ascorbyl glucoside, kojic acid, or arbutin and it has equivalent efficacy to skin-lightening gold-standard ingredient hydroquinone but without cytotoxicity.

**The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology published the study, comparing the efficacy and tolerability of a twice daily application of the cosmetic formulation containing hydroxyphenoxy propionic acid - Sokörpe's Radianskin™ - against prescription treatments with 4% hydroquinone cream and 0.025% tretinoin cream applied nightly. Evaluations included objective and subjective tolerance grading, clinical grading of facial skin attributes for dark spots, hyperpigmentation, PIH, skin tone evenness and clarity, firmness, fine lines and wrinkles, skin texture, radiance, appearance of facial imperfections, and overall facial appearance. The results of this study showed statistically significant improvements compared to baseline for both treatments in dark spot intensity, skin texture, skin tone evenness and clarity, skin radiance, and overall appearance. In addition, the subjects that used the cosmetic formulation showed significant improvements in imperfections and firmness. The cosmetic formulation also showed superior improvement at week 8 in spot size and imperfections compared to the prescription treatment. After 12 weeks, both treatments demonstrated parity, with no statistically significant differences found between the 2 groups. The prescription treatment (4% hydroquinone cream and 0.025% tretinoin) showed some tolerability issues by week 4. Four subjects were discontinued from the study because of extreme facial irritation from the prescription treatment, redness, stinging, and burning. In addition, those in the group treated with the cosmetic formulation showed significantly less dryness, peeling, and erythema than those in the prescription treatment group.
